Random Acts of Kindness

**Thank God for strangers...I don't know what I would have done without them! **

My faith in humanity has been restored. I have to admit, I was really getting down on people in general. It seemed like every where I turned I saw anger, meanness and cruelty. I guess most of that is my mental state but thankfully my faith has been restored.

To start, I'm an idiot. I admit it - no need to tell me. My gas was running low on my way back from Chicago but I really wanted to get home...so, I pushed the limit. The next day, I drove to the gas station...first thing...only to discover my credit card and all my cash sat quietly in my suitcase. *Slight problem.* I headed back home, grabbed my credit card and dashed to the gas station.

Um...I didn't make it.

For the first time ever, I ran out of gas. I could SEE the the gas station and couldn't even get the car to even consider starting again. Within seconds, a sweet man named "Terry" (first names only, he said) stopped to help me. He sped off to find some gas. While he was out, two different mini-vans full of children stopped to see if I was ok, two men in trucks stopped to push me off the road and several other people stopped to say Hi (I guess...not sure what they were doing.)

When my new friend, Terry returned - gas in hand, the car started and he pulled away. Only to stall 2 seconds later. There I sat in the middle of busy intersection praying I could turn on my go-go-gadget invisible car, 3 people suddenly jumped out of their cars and pushed me without thinking twice. (Meanwhile, good ol' Terry turned around to help me again.) The car continued to stall several times before I made it home and each time someone was instantly jumping in to help. It was amazing. It felt like we were surrounded by a team of angels insisting we get home safely.

All this, while the kids sat in the back seat oblivious to it all. When we pulled into the driveway, Ty said, "I don't want to run out of gas again." Thanks Buddy, I'll do what I can!

What a great feeling when humanity is actual kind and works a small way in your favor.

I miss you! We need to play soon.
